Notice is hereby given that sealed proposals will be received by the General Manager of Alexandria Light and Power, Alexandria, Minnesota, until 2:00 PM, on May 27, 2014, for the furnishing of 15 kV switchgear for Alexandria Light and Power, Alexandria, Minnesota. At said time and place, proposals will be publicly opened and read.

The general nature of the work on which proposals will be received consists of the following:

The work includes furnishing and delivering a one (1) new lineup of 15 kV metalclad switchgear including seven (7) vacuum circuit breakers, with related controls and accessories. Work also includes buswork to connect to existing 15 kV metalclad switchgear adjacent to the proposed equipment. Supplier shall field assemble and install furnished equipment as required.

The above equipment shall be in accordance with the specifications and proposed form of contract now on file in Alexandria Light and Power offices in said city of Alexandria, Minnesota, by this reference made a part hereof, as though fully set out and incorporated herein.

Material suppliers desiring a copy of the proposal forms and specifications for individual use may obtain them from the office of the Engineer, DeWild Grant Reckert and Associates Company, 1302 South Union, P.O. Box 511, Rock Rapids, Iowa 51246, telephone 712-472-2531, fax 712-472-2710, website, e-mail, no deposit required.

Each proposal shall be made out on proposal forms furnished by the Engineer and shall be accompanied by either a certified check or a bid bond executed in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the amount of the Bid. The bid security shall be made payable to Alexandria Light and Power. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. Such bid security shall be forfeited to Alexandria Light and Power as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract and post a satisfactory Performance Bond.

Payment to the Supplier will be made on the basis of ninety percent (90%) of the base bid for the equipment on receipt of the equipment. The final ten percent (10%) will be paid after the equipment has been energized by the Owner, but not later than 120 days after delivery.

Alexandria Light and Power reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date proposals are received and no proposal may be withdrawn during this period. Alexandria Light and Power also reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all bids.
