Seeking volunteers, teams for Alzheimer's walk
The Walk To End Alzheimer's is coming to Alexandria for the first time this fall, and applications for teams and volunteers are currently being accepted.
"Community leaders saw the need and made this event a priority," said Katrice Sisson, community engagement manager for the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota-North Dakota. The Alzheimer's walk has been held across the nation, with the intention of informing the public of the disease, providing support for those with Alzheimer's and their caregivers, and raising money for family support and research, Sisson said.
The Alexandria Lakes Area walk is Saturday, Oct. 6, on the Central Lakes Trail. Registration opens at Big Ole Park at 4 p.m., with a ceremony at 5 p.m.
