• Kristie Perrin is a recipient of Knute Nelson’s (KN) Tree of Excellence award for the month of June. This award is the highest level of recognition through the KN Employee Recognition Program. Perrin has been employed at KN for about a year and a half as a home care registered nurse. She was nominated by her peers who said that she “always has a smile and would do anything for anyone, makes the day brighter, and is a top employee.”

• From now through Saturday, August 9, maurices in Viking Plaza in Alexandria will give customers a 20 percent off one regular priced item coupon for every three food items donated. All items will be donated to the local food shelf.

• The Lake Region Arts Council (LRAC) recently appointed Gregory DeGier and Susan Scarborough, both of Alexandria, and James Arvidson of Parkers Prairie to its board of directors. DeGier is a member associate of several music, education and band organizations both nationally and within the state. Scarborough served as the community education director for Alexandria Public Schools for 28 years. Arvidson held many executive positions through community service organizations including the Lions, Jaycees, Lutheran Brotherhood, Church Council and Lakeland Hospice.

• The Theatre L’Homme Dieu Board of Directors recently hired Ann Hermes as executive director of its organization. Hermes has a master’s degree in philanthropy and development, as well as theater management and performance experience. Hermes will assume full duties of the position at the start of the theater’s next fiscal year, which begins on Wednesday, October 1.

• Hammargren and Meyer, P.A., with an office in Alexandria, and West Central Mediation, announced that three of their principals, David Hammargren, Timothy Cook and Gary Fuchs, have been selected to the 2014 Minnesota Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than 5 percent of the attorneys in Minnesota are selected to receive the honor. All three attorneys regularly act as mediators and arbitrators to assist parties in resolving their disputes quickly and inexpensively outside of the courtroom.
