• Two author book signing events will take place on Saturday, June 29 at Book World in Viking Plaza, Alexandria.

Diane Kasulis, author of Four Letters, will sign books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gerald Anderson, author of The Unicorn Murder or Victoria's Revenge, will sign books from 2 to 4 p.m.

• The Alexandria Cardinal Athletic Foundation welcomed Andrea Tripp, Doug Houska and Jon Cullen to its board of directors.

Other members of the 2013 board of directors include Mary Ellen Thompson, president; Jeff Restad, vice president; Andrea Nelson, secretary; Sam Steidl, treasurer; Eric Gronholz, past president; Mike Johnson; Derek Trosvig, Craig Zwilling, Sara Illies, Lynelle Brickweg and Carl Wittenburg.

The foundation is committed to serving as a capital fundraising partner to School District 206 so today's student athletes can be equipped to serve as tomorrow's community leaders.

• All-Pro Childcare Center, LLC, 503 Hawthorne Street, Suite 103, Alexandria, announced the addition of Michelle Ferris to its teaching staff. Ferris comes to All-Pro Childcare with many years of teaching experience.

• Nate Larson of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Alexandria recently won the firm's Ed Armstrong Award for his exceptional achievement in building client relationships. Larson was one of 1,618 of the firm's 12,000 financial advisors to receive the Ed Armstrong award.
