Summer interns join Echo Press staff

The Echo Press and Osakis Review recently hired two summer interns – Courtney Bitzan and Carly Snell.

The internship program, available to high school students, is made possible through matching funds provided by the Carl Pohlad Foundation.

As interns, the two will be responsible for writing stories and taking photographs for both publications.

Bitzan will be a senior at Alexandria Area High School this fall, spending her time participating in multiple school clubs, softball and music programs.

Bitzan is the daughter of Dennis and Tara Bitzan and has one sibling, Cayla, 14.

When not working at the newspaper, Bitzan is either spending her time as a senior companion or enjoying the lakes.

Snell is a 2014 graduate of Jefferson High School. She will attend North Dakota State University in Fargo this fall where she will major in biochemistry and music. She previously worked at Dairy Queen North in Alexandria.

Snell was born in Watertown, South Dakota, but was raised in Alexandria. She is the daughter of Linda and Shannon Snell, and has one sibling, Kimberly, 15.

When Snell is not spending her time interning at the newspaper, she enjoys reading, playing French horn and spending time outside.
