Troy Helget, owner of Top Notch Artworks of Alexandria, was awarded the National Fish Decoy Association World Point Championship. He has carved chainsaw sculptures for about 12 years and is a world award-winning taxidermist.

The National Fish Decoy Association approached Helget in March 2011 and introduced him to decoy carving. He entered the national competition in Perham a month later and took several awards including a first place purchase award for his bullhead entry.

Helget has been carving decoys for just over a year. In the first four shows of the season, he received 21 first place, six second place, three best in show and two people's choice.

Carvers accumulate points based on the place they took. At the John Jenson Nationals in Perham in April, they are judged again and more points accumulate. Helget accumulated 2,234 points for the year, more than any carver.

Helget will exhibit two fish in The Center for Art and Wood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A book featuring one of his decoys was also published.
