Jefferson Awards name winners

The local 2012 recipients of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service have been announced.

The Jefferson Awards are a prestigious national recognition system honoring community and public service in America and are presented at local and national levels.

Honorees are selected from nominations of ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary achievements without expectation of recognition or reward.

The awards recognize volunteers of all ages, from high school students through senior citizens. The Junior Jefferson Awards were created in 2011 to recognize youth who give of their time to support their community.

The awards are presented by KSAX/KRWF-TV and sponsored by local businesses.

KSAX/KRWF-TV Meteorologist Mark Anthony will join Anchor Laurie Stribling to host the 2012 Jefferson Awards Gala for nominees and their families on Thursday, April 19 at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria. Mayor Wayne Wolden of Wadena will be the keynote speaker.

Tickets are $20 each and are available at the KSAX-TV office.
