The Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission recognized Alexandria Industries as a "Distinguished Economic Development Partner" at its annual meeting.

Alexandria Industries - the parent company of Alexandria Extrusion Company, Alexandria Extrusion South, Alexandria Plastics, and Alexandria Precision Machining - was selected to receive this recognition based upon a number of factors, including the company's long-term commitment to the Alexandria community, continued organizational growth and investment in the area, and investments in workforce development initiatives throughout the region.

Words of congratulations and appreciation in coordination with the award were given by Dr. Kevin Kopischke (AAEDC Board Chair), Alexandria Mayor Dan Ness and Douglas County Commissioner Dan Olson.

Tom Schabel, CEO of Alexandria Industries, received the award on behalf of the company.

Alexandria Industries is a privately held, short lead time, precision manufacturer of engineered products with customers in a wide range of industries, niche markets and global locations. Since the company's founding in 1966, employees and corporate leadership have been committed to using industry-leading technology and the highest quality workforce to provide innovative design and manufacturing solutions to a strategic customer base that are challenged with dynamic and critical supply chain needs.

Alexandria Industries currently employs approximately 500 individuals. Alexandria Extrusion Company was established in Alexandria in 1966. In 1974 Alexandria Extrusion South was established in Carrollton, Texas (formerly M&M Metals).

In 2007, a strategic partnership was created with Wheaton Plastics to form Alexandria Plastics. In 2008, a Precision Products facility was opened in Suzhou China and Alexandria Precision Machining of Alexandria was purchased (formerly Doege Precision Manufacturing).

In early 2012, the company was rebranded as Alexandria Industries to serve as a hub for its customer base who desire more than doing business with a parts manufacturer, but rather a supply chain partner offering precision component manufacturing capabilities and program management with higher-level assemblies.
