Hoelschers to manage NorthStar's fieldhouse
Gerry and Leslie Hoelscher have accepted the position of fieldhouse manager at The NorthStar Group's sports complex in Alexandria.
The sports complex is a 70,000-square-foot facility that houses a skating rink on one side and a fieldhouse with indoor turf on the other. The fieldhouse is set up for soccer (half-court), batting cages and indoor diamonds for baseball and softball, golf hitting bays, and general training space for speed, agility and strength workouts.
Gerry Hoelscher currently serves on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes board, where he spearheads the annual golf tournament, 5K and half marathon races and other FCA activities. He also serves on the Love INC board and the local National Day of Prayer committee.
He managed the Knute Nelson baseball stadium for 13 years where he cared for the overall facility and organized volunteers. He worked at the local YMCA for four years and coached basketball and baseball in District 206 for 40 years.
In their role as sports complex manager, the Hoelschers will be responsible for ensuring the facility is serving the Alexandria area while promoting facility usage, programs and events.
"This is the perfect time, for us as a couple, to be able to give back to the youth in the community," said Gerry Hoelscher, "More important than winnin, is teaching character. We love that the sports complex has a vision to impact lives both on and off the field."
"Gerry and Leslie have been leaders in our community for many years and have a heart for young people," said Vern Anderson with The NorthStar Group. "We know they will create a welcoming environment and support our vision to provide a safe place where athletes can come to compete while being uplifted by transformational coaches."
The sports complex is currently looking to fill a similar position on the rink side of the facility. For more information, go to www.NorthstarSportsComplex.org.
