The all-new Fairfield Inn and Suites, the only Marriott brand hotel between St. Cloud and Fargo, is starting to take shape.

The $5.45 million project at 4929 Sanibel Drive is projected to open in January. Developers say it is the only Marriott brand hotel with direct access off Interstate 94 between Fargo and the Twin Cities.

The hotel will feature an all-new "modern calm" decor package, according to project manager Ted Thompson with C.I. Construction LLC, the construction firm for the project.

The Alexandria Fairfield is one of the first in the country to open using the new decor, Thompson said.

"The Alexandria Hotel Group made the decision to adopt this decor package after the original design was already completed and construction was underway," Thompson said. "It was a large undertaking, but the owners felt they wanted to open with the latest Marriott had to offer and aesthetically, the new decor package was very impressive."

The three-story hotel, just north of Boulder Tap House, will feature 80 rooms (19 are suites), an indoor pool with space for parties, meeting rooms, an exercise room with outdoor views and breakfast dining space.

Construction on the project began last December.
