New column added to Country

The Echo Press is excited to add a new column to the Country page: Roger Strom’s “This Business of Farming.”

Born in Canada and raised in International Falls, Strom knows the meaning of Minnesota winters. He often tells the stories of what happens when temps drop to 40 degrees below zero.

He has been in broadcasting since 1968, working for several radio and television stations across the Midwest as an announcer, newsperson, business reporter and farm broadcaster. His accomplishments have been recognized with several national awards for broadcasting excellence and service to agriculture and the community.

He came to WCCO Radio in 1988 as farm director providing agri-business reports throughout the day. With nearly 20 years with the station, he gained the reputation as the “Trusted Voice of Agriculture.”

In addition to his on-air duties, Strom is also a sought-after public speaker. He has traveled hundreds of miles across Minnesota, speaking at local functions. His sense of humor and wit have served him well both on-air and with his speaking engagements.

Over the years, Strom has organized several events to help those in need. His efforts included raising money and supplies for the tornado victims in St. Peter and Siren, Wisconsin. The people of Grand Forks will never forget his generosity in helping their children during the catastrophic floods that destroyed their city.
