Manufacturers to meet in Alexandria, tour company
Members of the Tri-State Manufacturers' Association will meet in Alexandria on Tuesday, Jan. 9, where they will hear about the upcoming legislative session as well as tour the local branch of a global life science company.
The association serves 187 members, including manufacturers and related industries in west-central Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas. Its annual meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with networking at Grand Arbor by Knute Nelson, 4403 Pioneer Road SE.
Guest speaker Jennifer Byers of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce will preview the upcoming 2018 legislative session as it relates to manufacturing. Byers directs the Minnesota Chamber's grassroots outreach, oversees candidate recruitment efforts and supports local chambers of commerce across the state.
After the meeting, members will tour LGC Douglas Scientific in Alexandria. As part of LGC Genomics, a global life science company, its work includes improving seed, identifying potentially harmful materials in water and food, and targeting medical treatment for an individual's genetic makeup.
