ATCC Foundation holds scholarship recognition event
The Alexandria Technical and Community College Foundation recently hosted its annual Scholarship Recognition Event celebrating and honoring the 2016-2017 named scholarship recipients and their donors.
Donors met students they're helping and learned firsthand the difference they've made in their lives. Lee and Karen Hockert shared why they support ATCC students:
"For you, the students, you are special, truly special. We've been in the community for 45 years and the fact that you as students become residents of Alexandria, participate in our community and show respect and courtesy, is one of the primary reasons we decided to participate in the scholarship program."
Students had an opportunity to thank donors who believe in them and invest in their future. Student Taner Gimberlin presented this message of gratitude: "Without a doubt, the scholarships we have received play a key role in achieving our educational dreams. Each time I was awarded a scholarship, I received a boost of confidence, motivation and self-satisfaction. I'd like to thank all members and donors of ATCC who have financially supported us through our academic endeavors."
Student Rebecca Angell also expressed her gratitude: "All the students in this room have really different lives and different reasons for needing these scholarships, but what we do have in common is our immense gratitude for the gift. Thank you for your donations and putting your faith in us."
