• Brittany Gronewold has been hired as a mental health therapist and in-home family-based worker at The Village Family Service Center in Alexandria. Gronewold specializes in adolescents, blended families, child abuse and neglect, children, crisis intervention, families, parent-child relationships and parenting. She received a master’s degree in family life education from Concordia University in St. Paul and is a Certified Family Life Educator by the National Council on Family Relations.
• ALDI, a low-price grocery store, will host a hiring event for its new Alexandria store on Saturday, September 13 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the ALDI location at 600 50th Ave. W., Alexandria. Opportunities include store associate, shift manager and manager trainee positions. The Alexandria store is slated to open in fall 2014. Staff working at least 20 hours a week receive full health insurance, dental coverage and 401K. Those interested must be 18 years or older to apply and have a high school diploma or GED.
• The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. will participate in the 20th year of the semi-annual Goodwill Sale with Goodwill Industries. From Wednesday, September 17 to Saturday, October 4, the company’s 273 locations, including Herberger’s in Alexandria, will accept clothing and household textile donations to benefit Goodwill. For each item donated, shoppers receive a discount coupon for up to 25 percent off new purchases at any Bon-Ton Stores. The donations fund Goodwill’s mission of helping people gain skills and earn jobs in their communities.
• Scott Dirck Golf Academy in Alexandria has announced the addition of assistant golf professional Sam Christensen. Christensen is working on becoming a member of the Professional Golfers Association. He is a native of Alexandria and graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
