Authors to visit Cherry Street Books

Cherry Street Books is pleased to announce the following author visits and book signings:

Saturday, August 21, the book store will enjoy a return visit from author/illustrator Don Houseman. His second children's book, Harvey and His Friends' Great Fishing Adventure, will be featured during the 10 a.m. story time and he will be in the store to meet customers and sign books until noon.

Houseman is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead and taught high school art in Blackduck for 34 years. His current art business is Stuff on Paper. He specializes in woodcut printing and barn paintings.

Houseman lives on Gull Lake outside of Tenstrike.

On Tuesday, August 24, the guest author will be State Rep. Dean Urdahl of Grove City. After teaching high school history in the New London-Spicer schools for 35 years, Urdahl was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives.

His latest book, The Collar and the Gun, tells the story of the mysterious murder of Father John Kaiser in Kenya on August 24, 2000. Kaiser grew up in Underwood and had served as a missionary in Kenya for 34 years before being murdered.

Urdahl has authored several other books, including the first two (Uprising and Reprisal) of a planned trilogy based on the Dakota Indian Wars of 1862. He will be visiting and signing books from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
