Newspaper hires summer interns

The Echo Press and Osakis Review recently hired two summer interns - Kelsey Risbrudt of Ashby and Rebecca Anderson of Brandon.

Risbrudt and Anderson were hired to help with the Echo Press and the Osakis Review, as well as the Vacationer, a summer publication of the Echo.

The internship program, available to high school students, is made possible through matching funds provided by the Carl Pohlad Foundation.

As interns, the two will be responsible for writing stories and taking photographs for all three publications.

Risbrudt is a 2009 graduate of Ashby Public School who will be starting at Hamline University in St. Paul this fall where she will major in psychology and sociology, and minor in creative writing.

She previously worked at the Fergus Falls Daily Journal and Dawn's Photography.

Although she was born in Canon City, Colorado, Risbrudt, who is the daughter of Mike and Lori Risbrudt, was raised in Ashby. She has three siblings, Dylan, 16; Drew, 13; and Sawyer, 10.

When not spending her time interning at the newspapers, Risbrudt enjoys working on crossword puzzles or spending time outside.

Anderson, who will be a senior at Brandon High School this fall, was born in Alexandria and raised in Brandon. She is the daughter of Dan and Sandie Anderson, and has a twin brother, Tom.

She previously worked at Pine Ridge Golf Course near Evansville.

When Anderson is not interning for the newspapers, she enjoys reading, writing, drama club, music and being involved in Teen Court and Business Professionals of America.
