Fifth grade boys run for the finish line in the 100 meter preliminaries at the annual elementary track and field day Thursday at the Alexandria Area High School. Fifth grade students from all District 206 elementary schools, as well as St. Mary’s Catholic School and Zion Lutheran School, participated in the event. Fourth graders competed on Friday. Visitors to the Runestone Museum for Mai Fest had a chance to enjoy traditional Scandinavian food, music, crafts and games Saturday. The Mai Fest celebrates Minnesota’s connection to Scandinavia as well as Syttende Mai, which is Norway’s Constitution Day and its most celebrated holiday.
